    ZeroBuild Journal
    Vol. 2 No. 02 (2024)

ZeroBuild Journal is completing its second year of publication. We are pleased to present the second issue of our second volume (ZBJ Vol. 02 Is. 02). Our journal publishes scientific studies that explore various aspects of Zero Energy Buildings. In this issue, we feature a Research Article examining the impact of building envelope color on energy performance, a Review discussing the concept of Synergy Areas, and a Case Study that evaluates an energy audit of a building, exploring the concepts of Efficient Building, nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB), and Net Zero Energy Building. We hope this issue will be beneficial to everyone working in or interested in the field of Zero Energy Buildings.

ZeroBuild Journal | First Issue of 2024: Building Energy Performance

ZeroBuild Journal continues to offer innovative, up-to-date, and publication-worthy scientific studies on zero-energy buildings for industry professionals, academics, and students. In the first issue of 2024, our journal focuses on critical topics that directly affect both household energy costs and building energy performance.

The articles featured in this issue are:

    • "Impact of Household Electric Appliance Utilization Preferences on Energy Costs under Varied Tariffs: An In-depth Analysis" (Aslan et al.): This study investigates the impact of utilization preferences for electrical appliances on household energy bills, considering both single-time and three-time electricity tariff options. Based on a survey conducted among 50 households and scenario modeling, the findings indicate that with mindful energy consumption, especially under a three-time tariff, a potential reduction of up to 17% (approximately 76 ₺) in the energy bill can be achieved. This clearly demonstrates the power of user behavior over energy costs.

    • "An Experimental Approach to Investigate the Effects of Infiltration Losses on Building Energy Performance" (Turel et al.): This experimental article researches the effects of infiltration losses in various types of windows positioned on different facades and orientations on building energy performance. A 10-point measurement method developed within the study was used to identify the air leakage characteristics at the frame joints of windows. The findings suggest that at the highest measured infiltration rate (6.3 m/s), a total thermal energy loss of 1.95 kWh was estimated in a selected window. This research offers valuable insights into understanding and mitigating air tightness issues in buildings.

As ZeroBuild Journal, we hope these valuable articles will make significant contributions to the knowledge base in the sector and shed light on sustainable energy solutions.
